We see a lot of concepts here at Gear Heads, but very few can match the work of AD Koncept when it comes to sheer boldness.
Previously, we’ve seen their designs of a brutal Kawasaki H2R – and that was enough to pique our interest. Now, they’ve shown us another design, this time for an insanely awesome Ducati 1299 Panigale café racer – because, obviously, that’s exactly the right base for a café racer concept. Full marks for originality, right there.
Now, taking practicality out of the equation, we’re looking at something that could potentially look phenomenal. Ditching the rear tail section for a tidy and compact look certainly hit’s the money, and the single sided swing arm makes the rear tire look boisterous beyond recognition, making the whole package look beastly and aggressive. Finally, the choice of retro styled paint work and the vintage tank logo are inspired choices. But for all the plus points, there are a few negatives: the naked look doesn’t quite do it any justice here, and what looks alright on paper may not look so appealing in the flesh. And that’s before we even get started on the logic of riding a 205hp monster machine like this through the busy streets of your nearest city.
Sadly, we only have this image to go by too. If we could see the rendering from a few more angles, we might be able to give a better opinion about how it all ties together. Hopefully, one of our readers might see this and decide to build one of their own…although, I very much doubt that someone’s willing to take a grinder to their beloved 1299. I certainly wouldn’t.
