Israeli student Eyal Melnick has created ‘Shavit’ for his degree at Shenkar College of Design and Engineering. Featuring an adjustable riding position system, this multipurpose electric bike can be configured for both racing and urban touring functions at the pusgh of a button. the different modes are reflected in the various mechanical components which make up the bike’s riding position geometry: change is expressed by the moving handlebars, foot pegs and seat. Emphasizing the lack of a bulky fuel tank, the chassis and body are kept minimal but maintain the sharp, aggressive look of its street racer inspiration.
‘Shavit’ is able to achieve this range of motion due to its use of an electric motor and battery pack. In contrast to models run by fuel that thereby require more chassis, the use of electric power reduces the number of necessary components, yielding both a minimal aesthetic and greater versatility for the rider.
