Creating a vehicle for the Tron movie certainly asks for a lot of expertise. That is why animators took the liberty to create rather astonishing machines, some of which include small light runabouts mostly known as Light Runners. Designer Daniel Simon is the one in charge for imagining all Tron: Legacy vehicles. This one, however, is probably his best work.
Using retro causes from real world machines such as classic Formula 1 cars, hot-rods, and off-roaders, Tron Light Runner certainly gained an appearance of a car gearheads would enjoy driving.
We cannot see that this thing ever becoming a real-world creation, but Honda actually produced something similar. Remember that Honda 2 & 4 Concept? It does not look a lot like a Light Runner, but it certainly has a flair of a car which could and should be in the Tron movie. Also, Donkervoort and Caterham are famous for producing cool small cars, but, we admit, nothing so radical as this.
This one, apparently, has a two-seat layout, it is probably envisioned as an autonomous car with the possibilities of a manual drive. The designer was obviously inspired by older cars, but he did fantastically transfer all the old causes onto the futuristic machine. This is what the designers tried to do when designing new Mini, new Beetle, and even new muscle cars. Some certainly did achieve greatness.
