We’re going to bet that you’ve never seen a 2010 Triumph Speed Triple 1050 look so good. This offering comes from Erne’s Euromotos based out of Zurich in Switzerland. It’s a modern take on the café racer, featuring stunning lines and awesome upgrades. You don’t see many Speed Triples going under the knife, so consider this a special treat.
The unnamed owner of this gorgeous bike first made contact with Erne a while back, and mentioned he was after a café racer style make-over. It took him a while to commit to the idea in full though, and only returned to Erne’s Euromotos last year, with a picture as a visual aid and troublesome color choice: bright green. Luckily, Erne dissuaded the chap away from green, and the build got underway.
The first thing the customer wanted was a fairing, and to get the ball rolling, Erne found a Ducati 750 SS windshield and mated it to the Triumph. While they were making it fit, the team added a headlight from a Thruxton to give it a really classic looking vibe. The rest of the cockpit upgrades also follow the café racer trend, including a Koso speedo, a MotoGadget keyless ignition, new clip on bars and some awesome LED indicators from Rizoma, with matching taillights.

With the front looking tidy and svelte, it was time for the team to tackle the rear. After starting with a Bonneville style café seat from Tamarit, Erne’s team decided it wasn’t quite right, and didn’t match the Speed Triple’s lines. Luckily, Erne’s crew knew exactly what to do and began trimming it down and cutting it to size. In the end, they used the Tamarit unit as a mock up, and rebuilt a whole new unit from fiber glass. While working on the tail, the guys also gave the sub frame a bit of attention, removing this and relocating that until the rear end was as tidy as it could be. It’s an aggressive riding position though, for sure.

The engine also got a few gifts – including a new K&N filters, a brand new exhaust and a Power Commander. Unlike a lot of exquisite custom bikes out there, this one has been on the dyno, and has been tuned for performance. Other bits and pieces that got the Erne’s treatment include the suspension, which was fully rebuilt, and the rubber, which has been upgraded to Conti Sport Attack 2s (although it’s wearing racing slicks in these pictures!)
With bright green a distant memory, Erne’s opted for a deep black and brushed silver finish, complete with a pinstripe.
Overall, this build took Erne’s Euromotos 350 man hours and the finished article is just incredible. Interestingly, if you’re a Speed Triple owner and like the look of that tail piece, Erne’s might consider reproducing one for you…if there’s enough interest, of course!
