2017 MAZDA MIATA RF

Dodge Viper ACR is easily the most astonishing sports car to ever come out of the USA. It is fast, nimble, fairly light, as insane as a muscle car and as brave as a race car. It is not only by chance that it lapped some tracks even faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder. The ACR is that fast. On the other spectrum, at the low-end, sits the all new 2017 Mazda MX-5. The Japanese released the cool 2017 MX-5 RF only a few weeks ago at the New York Auto show and as soon as the pics went online, d igital rendering artists started doing their thing. This is the result.

The Mazda MX-5 RF received quite a dazzling body-kit sourced from none other than the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR. As you may have noticed already, the front bumper is translated from the ACR all with splitter rods and side aerodynamic canards. These should keep the fast MX-5 on the road just like they did with the Viper ACR when it trashed the 918 Spyder around the Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway. The sides are obviously graced with more accentuated fenders, extreme rear side exhausts just in front of the rear tires and massive wheels directly sourced from the meanest snake of them all.

It really is quite sad and ironic to see a new small, light and cheap sports car just starting its way while another one – the Viper is dying out. O tempora, o mores as the Latins would say (Oh the times! Oh the customs!). The new 2017 Mazda Miata RF is a cool car, but it lacks the drama and the sheer brute force of any other slightly more powerful car, let alone the insanely fast Dodge Viper ACR.

The designer forgot about one thing – a large rear spoiler. That one is a trademark for the Viper, but it would not fit the Mazda. Partly because it is too big, but mostly because it would not be possible to open the roof.
